Black Barn Tuahiwi Wedding Florist

On the edge of Lake Tarawera, Rotorua sits the Black Barn nestled into the hillside with sweeping grounds overlooking the lake. Here is where Cara and Fraser chose to hold their special day.

The weather played into our hands so we set up the ceremony area outside with guests able to soak up the view as Cara and Fraser exchanged their vows. It was important to enhance the location and so we created two cone shape structures to frame the view and the couple using a lot of natural foliage, peonies and roses.

Cara wanted a relaxed yet modern vibe so we put together a pastel palette and made bouquets to reflect the relaxed nature of the couple and their wedding vibe. Cara looked timeless in her wedding gown carrying her bouquet of mixed wildflowers, peonies and roses.

We replicated the natural look with lush pastel flowers along the tables in brass vases at the reception, held inside the barn overlooking the lake and styled by Two Foxes. This day I was fortunate enough to have the help of Black Barn Tuahiwi wedding photographer Marion Heurteboust who is usually on the other side of the lens but today was helping me with all the floral installations. I loved how these were reused the following day as family and friends spent the morning at Black Barn together before everyone departed for their homes in various corners of the world.

Cara and Fraser’s day exuded elegance and sophistication in stunning surrounds. Using what is naturally available whether lake, forest or beach definitely enhances the atmosphere of a wedding day.
